Tamar Pincus MSc M.Phil PhD

Dr Pincus has been researching psychological factors in relation to pain since 1990. Her research combines epidemiological approaches, quantitative methods and qualitative designs. In particular, she has been interested in how people with pain and people treating pain think and feel about pain and how these thoughts and beliefs affect their behaviour. She has been lecturing at Royal Holloway, University of London since 1998, having completed a PhD and post-doctoral post at University College London, and a Masters in Epidemiology from Cambridge University.

Amanda C de C Williams MSc PhD CPsychol

Dr Amanda Williams qualified as a clinical psychologist in 1985 and in 1988 started work in pain at an inpatient pain management unit (INPUT Pain Management Unit at St Thomas’ Hospital, London), leaving in 2004 after being involved in the treatment of over 3500 patients. In 1996 she gained her PhD and in a part-time academic post at King’s College London (left in 2004) carried out research on pain management methods and outcome, outcome measurement and evaluation, depression in relation to chronic pain, and facial expression of pain.

Steven Vogel DO (Hons)

Steven Vogel graduated from the British School of Osteopathy (BSO) in 1989 and has been working clinically in primary care for the NHS for over 10 years. He divides his time between practice and research work for the BSO’s Research Centre. His research interests have focused on back pain and the processes of care for people with musculo-skeletal pain.
